The Communications Commission of Kenya indicated in a May 2011 report that mobile phone subscribers represent the major platform through which people are accessing the internet. Mr. Mickael Ghossein, Telkom Kenya CEO, explains that this coupled with the fact that the majority of youth now have access to internet enabled mobile phones, informed the need for an offer that would target their needs and expectations of a preferred service provider.
“Holla is about giving our customers value for every cent that they spend with us and is targeted towards the youth that account for the majority of mobile users in the country. These are very tech savvy individuals keen on high speeds with which to access the internet,” he said, adding that the new offer was in line with the brand promise of launching innovative products and services that would enable Orange customers experience the usage of the company’s 21 Mbps 3G network, launched in September last year.
“This proposition will allow the Orange customer to see the benefit of using their phone on a daily basis,” says Ghossein.
“Our unique offers have continuously set us apart from the competition, with our continuous network upgrades and increased level of customer focus, we are confident that we will continue growing our subscriber base this year,” said Ghossein.
Orange currently has 2.4 million mobile subscribers and is working towards increasing its market share to take up the number two position in mobile customers in Kenya. The Holla offer will initially run for 45 days, commencing March 15, 2012. About Telkom Kenya
