Orange internet revamps its Home Broadband service

Service offered through Telkom Kenya Fixed line with waived set up fees for new subscriptions

Orange internet becomes the most affordable unlimited internet access

Rapid development of the ICT sector and convergence of telecommunications and broadcasting is creating new products and services, charting new paths for education, entertainment and business. At the same time, more commercial, social and professional opportunities are being created through these unique developments.
Telkom Kenya as the only integrated telecommunications services provider in Kenya with mobile telephony; fixed line and internet has demonstrated its lead role in opening up consumers to these unique developments by announcing today the launch of its revamped Orange Internet residential offer: Broadband Nyumbani.
Broadband Nyumbani’s ADSL technology utilizes the unused capacity in copper wires by receiving data at a different frequency than that of voice or fax, making it the ultimate choice in data transfer and processing.
Other benefits are: 5 free email addresses with large storage capacity, antispam and antivirus with additions on request; free parental control CD; discount on fixed line; dedicated customer help line and Broadband Nyumbani’s equipment known as the Livebox, comes fitted with a Wi-Fi component that allows wireless internet access within 100 meters of the access point, commonly known as hot spots. With this, customers can set up multiple computers or other Wi-Fi enabled devices in their home enabling them to connect to high speed internet simultaneously without blocking the phone line for voice calls.
Broadband Nyumbani which is based on the ADSL technology will provide fast, reliable and affordable internet solution with high bandwidth capabilities of up to 1MB to home users. The offer promotes the use of landline by waiving the application fee of Telkom Fixed line cost of Kshs. 3,395 on application of the Broadband Nyumbani within 30 days from payments of the fixed line. With this ADSL connection a customer can surf the internet as well as make phone calls.
The parental control CD which comes with the service offers content filtering options that allow parents to monitor or limit what can be accessed and even restrict the amount of time their children spend online. The content filter offers a choice of pre-defined blocked categories that parents or guardians can use to protect children or vulnerable dependants within the family home.
Telkom Kenya’s move into residential broadband is part of its strategy to offer value added services to customer and maintain the lead in the data services market as it prepares for the landing of the Fibre Optic cables. Benefits expected with the Fiber Optic cables are availability of internet access characterized by high bandwidth and low costs. This outcome is likely to result to substantial growth in the number of residential internet users.
Commenting on the service, Jean-Michel Chanut, Head of Marketing and Strategy said.
“We’re offering customers a range of innovative, world class internet services - all at incredibly affordable rates enabling home users to get the most value. Orange aims at easing up customers’ life and enhancing their internet experience as part of build-in benefits adding generosity to performance”
To ensure that the customers are served well and promptly, a dedicated customer service help line for Orange Internet customers has been established. Dial 020-2222 121 020-2222 121 from any network.
